Volunteer with the BPC

Cultural Week

Brook Park’s Cultural Week takes place on Monday, January 30th - Friday, February 3rd. Students in each grade will “travel and explore” different continents for half a day. Each class will represent/learn about a country, and classes can rotate or partner with another class to do activities for the different countries in their continent (depending on what the teacher has planned).

VOLUNTEERS:

We need volunteers to help the teachers in their classrooms with various activities that are part of the chosen lesson plan for that class/country. These activities could be a craft, a book, or something else - volunteers are encouraged to contact the teachers about the lesson plan.

You do not have to volunteer for your child’s class. Please feel free to pick a classroom based on your country of interest or knowledge. Maybe you have traveled to one of these locations? You are welcome to bring in your own photos and souvenirs and add your own special touch to the event.

Please arrive 10 minutes early to CHECK IN AT THE GOLD OFFICE for Kindergarten - 2nd grade,  or CHECK IN AT THE BLUE OFFICE for 3rd - 5th grade.

GUEST SPEAKERS:

Do you want to talk about a country that is not part of the list?

As part of “In Flight Entertainment” for the students, we are looking for Guest Speakers who would like to share or present their strong cultural ties to another country or culture.

Speaking Time: 2 - 5 minutes

To become a Guest Speaker please contact Kristine Alexander.
